Smart Cold Chain × Energy Efficiency|Success Capital Logistics Center Adopts Neutragel® Neo for a Greener Future

Due to the rise of online shopping platforms such as e-commerce in recent years, people’s demand for frozen food is increasing day by day.

With the surge of e-commerce and rising demand for frozen food, cold chain logistics centers are no longer just storage hubs—they are now critical infrastructures driving both food safety and sustainability.

At the Success Capital Logistics Center in Taoyuan, GreenValue designed and built an advanced refrigeration and air-conditioning system featuring Neutragel® Neo heat transfer fluid, alongside multiple energy-saving measures. The result: a facility that achieves operational efficiency, reduced carbon emissions, and international recognition with LEED Silver Certification.

Project Highlights|Efficiency Meets Sustainability

This frozen food logistics center is equipped with four main refrigeration units, operating with Neutragel® Neo as the secondary refrigerant to ensure stable freezer temperatures below –18 °C.

Key sustainability features include:

  • 1.8 MW rooftop solar PV system to offset peak power demand.
  • High-efficiency compressors + heat recovery system to reduce electric heating.
  • Dual diesel backup generators to safeguard continuous operations during outages.

Together, these strategies lower electricity costs and carbon emissions—setting a new benchmark for green cold chain facilities in Taiwan.

System Design & Applications

  • Refrigeration Plant: Four R-507A chillers with single-screw compressors, each providing 325 kW cooling capacity with parallel redundancy.
  • Operating Temperatures: Condensation at 40 °C, evaporation at –40 °C, with Neutragel® Neo maintained between –28 °C and –33 °C.
  • Smart Defrosting: An advanced defrost management system optimizes performance and cuts energy consumption.

Cascaded Cold Recovery: During defrost cycles, 25,000 liters of Neutragel® Neo circulate from 20 °C down to nearly 0 °C, delivering cooling in three stages:

  • Dock Buffer Zone: +2 °C ~ +7 °C
  • Office Air-Cond: +7 °C ~ +12 °C
  • Intermediate Ceiling Layer: Prevents condensation and structural issues

This multi-use thermal cascade design maximizes the value of every kilowatt, reinforcing energy reuse across zones.

Automated Differential Pressure Control

During commissioning, viscosity changes in the fluid at ultra-low temperatures caused lower suction pressure at the evaporator. To solve this, GreenValue implemented an automated pressure-differential adjustment system, dynamically regulating pump loading and ensuring stable, reliable operation.

Why Neutragel® Neo?

The chosen heat transfer fluid offers:

  • Low viscosity and inhibitor stability for reduced energy use.
  • Enhanced safety with a built-in bittering agent to prevent accidental ingestion.
  • Robust performance: Nearly 50 tons of Neutragel® Neo charged at 56% mass concentration, maintaining a freezing point below –37 °C.

Combined with high-performance TECO water pumps, the system delivers efficiency and resilience for long-term logistics operations.

Conclusion|A New Benchmark for Sustainable Cold Chains

This project proves that advanced refrigeration design and renewable integration can deliver both logistics performance and sustainability. With optimized energy use, reduced costs, and certified environmental performance, the Success Capital Logistics Center exemplifies how Taiwan’s cold chain industry can move toward a net-zero future.

At GreenValue, we remain committed to driving intelligent, energy-efficient, and sustainable cold chain solutions—partnering with industries to build the logistics infrastructure of tomorrow.
