GreenValue Showcases Smart Cold Chain and Monitoring Achievements at SMAbuilding 2025

On May 8, 2025, GreenValue Industrial Co., Ltd. participated in SMAbuilding 2025: Taipei International Smart Building & Living Environment Expo and the Next-Generation Architecture & Living Innovation Forum, sharing our latest achievements in energy optimization and intelligent cold chain management as part of our commitment to net-zero transformation.

Hosted by the National Federation of Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Professional Engineer Guilds, Republic of China, the forum focused on key topics such as smart buildings, low-carbon HVAC systems, and advanced cold chain monitoring. GreenValue presented practical case studies and technology applications, demonstrating how we integrate AIoT, real-time monitoring, and energy-saving design into cold chain infrastructure to deliver sustainable, efficient, and future-ready logistics solutions.

This participation not only highlights GreenValue’s dedication to environmental responsibility, but also marks another milestone in our efforts to lead innovation in the cold chain industry.

Optimizing Cold Storage Efficiency and Resilience

Insulation & Thermal Mass Improvement:

According to the Energy Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, R.O.C., the average Energy Use Intensity (EUI) for cold storage and refrigeration warehouses in non-manufacturing industries is 232.4 kWh/m²/year, with estimated monthly electricity costs of around NT$3 million.

At GreenValue’s cold chain logistics facility in Yangmei, Taoyuan, our customized design and energy optimization measures—such as improved insulation, zoning strategies, and demand-side scheduling—successfully reduced operating costs. Electricity expenses were brought down to below NT$1.8 million during non-summer months, and consistently maintained under NT$2.5 million during peak summer periods, delivering significant and measurable energy savings.

Integrated Intelligent Energy Systems: AI-Driven Defrosting & Thermal Energy Recovery

AI-Driven Defrosting Optimization

GreenValue developed a custom AI-enhanced image recognition module to detect frost accumulation in real time. This system dynamically adjusts defrost cycles based on actual ice buildup rather than fixed schedules—significantly improving defrosting accuracy, reducing unnecessary energy consumption, and enhancing operational reliability.

Closed-Loop Thermal Energy Recovery

Waste heat generated during the defrosting process (approximately 20 °C) is reclaimed through plate-type heat exchangers. The recovered thermal energy is first used to produce 2 °C chilled water for cold dock operations, then cascaded to deliver 7 °C cooling for the office area. This closed-loop heat repurposing design greatly reduces dependency on traditional VRF systems and has demonstrated over 80% energy savings in field testing—while supporting the shift toward low-carbon building operations.

Smart Monitoring Empowered by Data-Driven Cold Chain Management

GreenValue integrates wireless temperature and humidity sensors, a centralized monitoring platform, and a mobile application interface to deliver a real-time remote environmental monitoring system. This solution enables instant anomaly alerts, real-time access to environmental data, and long-term data logging for trend analysis—supporting both predictive maintenance and intelligent system control.

The platform is further enhanced with thermal imaging technology, allowing incoming goods to be automatically scanned and classified by temperature at the point of entry. This enables precise temperature zoning and control, reducing unnecessary energy use and improving overall warehouse operational efficiency.

By continuously collecting and analyzing environmental data, the system enables risk-averse facility management, providing early warning mechanisms and facilitating proactive risk mitigation—ultimately reducing operational downtime and maintenance costs.

Supporting Full Regulatory Readiness: Five Key Certifications Achieved

In response to the upcoming 2026 implementation of new cold chain compliance standards in Taiwan, GreenValue has assisted Fong An Pharma Logistics (Taoyuan) in achieving five major industry certifications, ensuring full alignment with evolving regulatory frameworks. These include:

  • Regulations of Medical Device Good Distribution Practice
  • Medical Device Quality Management System Regulations
  • Pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practice Regulations
  • PIC/S GDP
  • Cosmetics Good Manufacturing Practice Regulations

Through comprehensive planning and integrated system design, GreenValue ensures that clients can meet new requirements across compliance, temperature control technology, and data governance—laying the foundation for a next-generation cold chain ecosystem.
