Beyond Air Conditioning Repairs: Building Cold Chains and Advancing Green Sustainability

Behind the seamless operation of modern cities lies the unsung support of the refrigeration and air conditioning industry—a hidden but vital force sustaining every facet of daily life. In a recent feature by PERSONA MEDIA, GreenValue General Manager Yo-Fong Hsu sheds light on this essential yet often overlooked sector, inviting the public to see it in a new light.

From Homes and Hospitals to National Health Infrastructure

Since its founding in 2008, GreenValue has specialized in integrated refrigeration and HVAC systems, accumulating extensive experience across medical, biotech, commercial, and industrial applications.

In 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the team rapidly designed and built vaccine cold chain storage facilities, enabling the safe preservation of over three million doses nationwide. Though behind the scenes, this effort proved to be a critical pillar of Taiwan’s public health response.

More Than Fixing ACs: A Blue Ocean of Integrated Technology

The interview highlights a widespread misconception: many still equate the refrigeration and air conditioning field with basic AC repair work. In reality, GreenValue’s cold chain engineering spans high-level design, construction, and AI system integration, supporting sectors such as healthcare, high-tech manufacturing, logistics, and large-scale infrastructure.

This work demands interdisciplinary talent, yet the industry currently faces a serious shortage of skilled professionals. Annual salaries ranging from NT$600,000 to NT$2 million reflect robust and growing demand, but there is a lack of next-generation talent to step in. GreenValue is actively committed to industry education and talent development, hoping to inspire more young professionals to join the field.

From Deep Tech to Daily Life

Expanding on cold chain expertise, GreenValue has launched its own brand—AIRDTR, a 6-in-1 air quality monitor capable of detecting carbon dioxide (CO₂), particulate matter (PM2.5/PM10), total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), formaldehyde (HCHO), temperature, and humidity.

The system automatically records data hourly and uploads it to the cloud, enabling real-time monitoring. Future plans include integration with smart HVAC and energy management systems, paving the way for highly efficient and stable indoor environmental control.

80% Energy Savings and Heat Recovery: Where Intelligence Meets Sustainability

The PERSONA MEDIA interview also underscores that HVAC systems are often the largest energy consumers in buildings. GreenValue addresses this with AI defrosting modules, waste heat recovery, energy storage, and solar integration—technologies that have helped clients significantly reduce their energy bills.

For example, one logistics facility saw its monthly electricity costs drop from over NT$100,000 to just NT$30,000—a savings of 80%. These advancements not only cut carbon emissions but also support a vision of “breathing buildings,” aligning with ESG principles and global sustainability goals such as RE100.

At GreenValue, we believe that while the HVAC industry may operate behind the scenes, it plays a crucial role in keeping the world in balance.

Grounded in technical excellence and driven by innovation, we will continue to deepen our work in cold chain engineering、 intelligent sensing, and energy efficiency—injecting sustainable value into the buildings of tomorrow.
