A Bespoke Wine Cellar Beneath Taipei’s East District
Where Professional HVAC Engineering Meets Exceptional Interior Design
Nestled in the basement of a building in Taipei’s bustling East District lies a wine cellar meticulously crafted for serious collectors.
With over 20–30 years of wine collection experience, the owner set exceptionally high standards for both environmental control and spatial aesthetics. Approaching the project from the user’s perspective, the GreenValue project team redefined what an ideal wine cellar should be—down to the finest detail.
In collaboration with Cailin Space Design, which led the project’s interior aesthetics and spatial flow, GreenValue was responsible for the design and execution of the entire HVAC system. The result: a 358-ping (approx. 1,184 sqm) professional-grade wine cellar built to the gold standard of 12–16°C temperature and 60–80% relative humidity, with an advanced monitoring system providing 24/7 data logging, SMS, and LINE alerts to ensure optimal storage conditions at all times.
Smart Safety and Thoughtful Engineering
To preserve the tranquility of the tasting experience, the ventilation system was designed for minimal noise. Cooling units were discreetly concealed within the ceiling and structural spaces to maximize cabinet capacity—balancing aesthetics and functionality.
For added reliability, the entire facility is equipped with a backup generator and an integrated 24-hour temperature and humidity monitoring system. Should any anomaly occur, the system immediately sends SMS and LINE notifications to ensure swift response and protection of the valuable collection.
International Recognition
Since completion, this wine cellar has garnered widespread attention and acclaim—most notably receiving the Silver Award in Interior Design at the 2023 MUSE Design Awards, hosted by the International Awards Associates (IAA). It stands as a benchmark for the seamless integration of high-performance refrigeration engineering and refined spatial design.
